Paris: Not a City But a world
Basic Facts: |
Paris in 1625 was very different than it is today. The streets within its walls were no more than 15 feet wide and no large promenades were yet built- you were only allowed the luxury of space if you were at court. Additionally, neighborhoods were increasingly clustered around the very rich, leaving the poor hanging out in the wind. There was one exception to the rule- the craftsman who took the street first claimed it forever. However, the polarization between the rich and poor was a big source of conflict for Parisians heading into 1625.
